Ferris State Notches Impressive Road Win Over First-Place Wayne State In Detroit

Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University men's basketball squad notched an impressive road win on Friday (Feb. 26) night as the Bulldogs beat Wayne State 84-71 in Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) play in Detroit.

The Bulldogs topped Wayne State, which entered the game first in the league standings, for a big conference victory to start the final weekend of regular-season play.

The Bulldogs jumped out to a 40-36 halftime edge and outscored WSU 44-35 the rest of the way to move to 9-9 on the year.

Sophomore Vejas Grazulis led the Bulldogs with a team-high 21 points on nine-of-12 shooting. He was joined in double-digits by freshman Jimmy Scholler with 14 points and senior forward Michael Peterson with 10 points. Off the bench, sophomore Ben Davidson also had 10 points for the Bulldogs.

Ferris State shot 48.3% from the floor and made 20-of-23 (87%) free throws while knocking down six-of-22 (27.3%) three-point tries.

On the opposite side, Wayne State shot 45.2% overall and went 13-of-20 (65%) from the free throw stripe while converting only two-of-seven (28.6%) long range attempts.

Ferris State held a 38-35 rebounding margin and both teams finished with only nine turnovers for the night.

Wayne State was led by Darian Owens-White with 19 points and Brailen Neely added 18 points in the setback.

The two teams will square of again on Saturday (Feb. 27) afternoon in the regular-season finale in Detroit at 2 p.m. (ET).
