Oilers Split To Close Out Series With Saginaw

The University of Findlay baseball team split a pair with Saginaw Valley State to wrap up their four game series on Sunday, March 1st in Saginaw, Mich.

In game one, the Oilers put runs on the board in every inning except the second and fifth to win 9-4.

Dustin Zielaskiewicz went 3-for-4 from the leadoff spot with two doubles, two stolen bases and scored twice. 

Blake Schmenk chipped in with two hits and three RBIs while Tommy Roush, Reid Rothenbuhler, Eric Terwilliger and Garrett Busch each had multiple hits in the game.

Mike Fry picked up his second win of the season holding Saginaw to two hits in two inning of work out of the bullpen. 

Freshman Alex Williams stuck out three in two innings on his way to picking up his third save of the season.

Despite jumping out to a 2-0 lead in the first inning of game two, the Oilers were only able to muster three hits for the remainder of the game and went on to lose 5-3.

Terwilliger led Findlay at the plate, going 2-for-3 with a double while Rothenbuhler picked up the Oilers' only RBI.

With the split, Findlay's record is now 7-14 on the season with a 2-8 mark in GLIAC play.  They will be back in action on Wednesday, April 4th when they host Tiffin for a twin bill beginning at 2 p.m.
