Turnovers cost Dragons in 78-70 loss

Tiffin University (6-15, 4-12) stayed close to Ohio Dominican for most of the game but could not close the gap created by 21 turnovers, falling to the Panthers 78-70.

Ohio Dominican opened the first quarter with their best output and defense of the game, outdistancing TU 23-12 in the frame. TU managed just 38 percent from the field while the Panthers hit at a 50 percent clip.

TU managed to keep ODU off the scoreboard better in quarter two, as the Panthers shot just 26 percent. But ODU took a 36-27 lead into halftime thanks in large part to a 26-19 rebounding advantage. They held a 20-10 edge in the paint while also forcing TU into 10 turnovers.

In the second half TU battled but could not put a run together on offense to pull them closer. After pulling to within 3 points with 3:29 left in the third quarter, ODU outscored them 10-3 to close out the quarter and take a 10 point lead into the fourth.

ODU quickly pushed their lead up by 7 more points and were never threatened during the final period. They held a 38-24 paint advantage while also forcing TU into 22 turnovers leading to 18 points.

Allie Miller led the way with 16 points, 7 rebounds, 4 assists, and 4 steals, while Sarah Cummings added 13 points. Ali Schirmer had 12 points, while Bre Nauman worked hard inside for 10 points and 15 rebounds. Kristen Massey also had 8 points with 5 rebounds.
