Ferris State Pulls Away On The Road For Regional Triumph At Tiffin To Stay Perfect On Year

Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University men's tennis team stayed unbeaten this year as the Bulldogs notched a 6-1 regional road victory over the Tiffin Dragons on Sunday (Feb. 13) at the Lakewood Racquet Club in Ohio.

Ferris State, which beat Findlay 7-0 on Saturday, closed out the weekend with another convincing win in the victory over the Dragons. With the win, FSU is now 3-0 overall this spring.

The Bulldogs swept the doubles round to pick up the first point of the match with both the first and third tandems garnering identical 6-2 decisions along with a 7-5 triumph at the second spot in the lineup.

In singles play, Tiffin's Ruben Fonga pulled out the victory at the top flight, but FSU managed to claim the remaining five matches to pull away for the win.

The Bulldogs' singles success included four straight-set wins along with a three-set triumph from Jan Koupil at the third position.

Overall, seven different Bulldog players saw action in the contest and all seven had at least one win on the day in either singles or double competition. A total of four were all double winners, including Koupil along with Yannic Alexander Mader, Benjamin Lortie and Josh McDermott.

Ferris State will host Walsh in regional competition on Friday, Feb. 18, with match time set for 12 p.m. (ET) at the FSU Racquet and Fitness Center in Big Rapids.
