Defending GLIAC Champion Bulldogs Earn Win In First League Outing This Year

Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University men's tennis squad posted an impressive 7-0 sweep over Michigan Tech in the Bulldogs' Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) opener on Saturday (March 23) at the Gates Tennis Center in Houghton.

The defending league champion Bulldogs rolled to the victory as FSU claimed all three doubles matches and all six singles flights en route to the triumph.

The Bulldogs earned a 6-4 win at one doubles and a 6-3 triumph at the second flight along with a hard-fought 7-6 victory at number three to pick up the first point of the match.

FSU then went on to win all six singles flights in straight-sets while improving to 3-8 overall this season. Ferris State dominated singles play as the closest decision came by a 6-0, 7-6 decision at the top spot in the lineup.

Overall, the Bulldogs had a total of seven different players in the lineup in the first league outing this year.

Ferris State will wrap up its trip to Michigan's Upper Peninsula by visiting Lake Superior State on Sunday (March 24) for a 10 a.m. (ET) tilt in Sault Ste. Marie.
