Ferris State Caps Off Strong Weekend With 3-0 Volleyball Sweep At Parkside

Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University women's volleyball squad capped off a weekend road sweep in Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) play as the Bulldogs topped Parkside 3-0 on Saturday (March 27) at DeSimone Gymnasium in Kenosha, Wis.

The Bulldogs posted a second consecutive 3-0 win over the Rangers, taking Saturday's finale by scores of 25-18, 25-21 and 26-24.

With the two wins on the weekend, FSU now owns an 8-4 overall and league record to date this year. The Rangers fell to 3-9 overall and in conference action.

Senior All-American Katie O'Connell led the way with a match-high 16 kills and 15 digs for the Bulldogs. Both Kira Merkle and Samantha Hermann added seven kills each.

FSU also got 23 digs from libero Nina Gorgijevska in addition to 31 assists and 10 digs by freshman setter Kaylee Maat. Fellow freshman Keona Salesman had three solo blocks at the net in addition to three service aces.

The Bulldogs posted a .250 attack figure for the match, coming up with 40 kills and only 11 attack errors on 116 attempts. FSU also netted 61 digs and had nine aces.

For Parkside, Jessica Pappas had 11 kills and Kaylee Kuecker compiled 20 digs. The Rangers were limited to a .177 hitting percentage and finished with 60 digs and a single ace.

The Bulldogs will return home to host Saginaw Valley State in their final two regular-season matches on Friday and Saturday, April 2-3, in Big Rapids.
