UNIVERSITY CENTER, Mich. – The Saginaw Valley State University volleyball team picked up a second big Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference win, topping Davenport University in three sets at home on Sunday.
The Cardinals rolled through the first set 25-19 but fell behind 21-17 in the second. SVSU rallied to take the second in extra points 27-25 before closing out the match 25-23 in the third.
The win pushes SVSU to 11-4 overall and 3-4 in the GLIAC.
For the second straight match, freshman Sarah Veale led the Cardinal offense, finishing with nine kills and a .400 hitting percentage. Maria Vukaj added nine kills, eight digs, and four total blocks.
Peyton Gerstacker had a strong performance with 30 assists, eight digs, and four block assists. Kelsey Vittitow recorded a team-high 13 digs from the Libero position for SVSU.
The Cardinals hit the road to make up a match at Purdue Northwest on Thursday in Hammond, Ind.
