ORLANDO, Fla. -- The Wayne State University men's tennis squad (8-3 overall) swept Lees-McRae (5-5 overall), 7-0, in Orlando on Monday afternoon.
DOUBLES RESULTS
Senior
Nicholas Ang (Rochester, Mich.) and freshman
David Solar (Prague, Czech Republic) were the first off the courts after blanking Brandon Caldwell and Colton Porter, 7-0, at No. 3 doubles.
At No. 2 doubles, junior
Pierre Renaudie (Sathonay-Camp, France) and redshirt junior
Jason Potter (Sterling Heights, Mich. / International Academy East) notched a 6-4 victory over Matt Meluch and James Kirkham.
At the first flight, redshirt junior
Derek Sammons (Coldwater, Mich.) and freshman
Donovan Nguyen (Troy, Mich. / Utica) fell 6-4 to Miodrag Popovic and Fitzgerald Lomp.
SINGLES RESULTS
Solar was first off the courts after winning his No. 6 singles match vs. Porter (6-1, 6-1).
Senior
Taylor Vane (Southampton, England) nearly swept Kirkham at No. 4 singles (6-0, 6-1).
At No. 3 singles, senior
Griffin Mertz (Farmington Hills, Mich. / North Farmington) claimed a win over Lomp (6-2, 6-2).
Freshman
Max Rink (Wetzlar, Germany) won his No. 5 singles match against Caldwell (6-2, 6-0).
At No. 1 singles, sophomore
Niklas Karcz (Bottrop, Germany) nearly blanked Popovic (6-1, 6-0).
Renaudie was last off the courts, winning his No. 2 singles match versus Meluch (6-2, 6-4).
