Viitala scored five straight points to cut the Northwood deficit to two (29-27) after the recess.  Wayne State extended its lead to 34-27 with its own five points, however, including a triple by senior Alex Matus (Millbury, Ohio / Toledo Central Catholic).  NU went on a seven-point run to knot the score 34-34 with 5:32 on the clock.  Back-and-forth buckets would contribute to four lead changes over the next 1:53.  WSU was held scoreless in the remaining 3:52, while the Timberwolves recorded nine points.  The Warriors trailed 46-38 after 30 minutes.

Chambers opened the final stanza with four points from the foul line over the initial 2:42.  A five-point Northwood spurt was ended when Cherney made a layup at the 5:14 mark to cut the WSU deficit to seven (51-44).  The Warriors allowed two points from the charity stripe before scoring five straight points, including a triple from sophomore Grace George (DeWitt, Mich.) to end the WSU scoring.  The Timberwolves tacked on five points for a 58-49 Wayne State loss.
