Oilers Sweep Purdue-Northwest

The University of Findlay softball team swept the University of Purdue-Northwest on March 14 at Anderson Field. The Oilers won the first game by a score of 3-1 and then came back with a 5-1 victory in the second.

In game one, junior Caroline Turner, senior Devyn Zuro, and senior Savannah Harvey each drove in a run at the plate to lead the offense.

Senior Megan Fisher picked up the win on the mound by allowing one run on one hit in five innings of work. She also struck out four.

In the second game, Harvey led off the sixth with a triple and came around to score on a single by Bailey Bates, breaking a 1-1 tie. Zuro then doubled home Bates and senior Dylan Wiley before freshman Emma Bode singled to score junior Kelsey Carter another for the final runs of the game.

Junior Lexie Hilling picked up the win on the mound by allowing only one run on four hits in six innings of work. She also struck out five.

The Oilers, who are now 9-6 on the year, will host Saginaw Valley State University on March 20 at 1pm in their next game.
