GAME ONE (L, 3-5)
HOW IT HAPPENED

A walk to Rudy Ramirez (Brighton, Mich.) paired with Robert Iacobelli (Rochester Hills, Mich. / Brother Rice) getting hit by a pitch in the second inning led to the Warriors using an error on a botched rundown to bring home the game's first run.

DU loaded the bases in the bottom of the third inning and scored two runs on three hits and a walk to tak a 2-1 advantage.

In the top of the fifth inning, Hunter DeLanoy (Hartland, Mich.) drove in two runs with his seventh triple of the season to give WSU a 3-2 lead.  However, the Panthers regained the lead in the bottom of the fifth inning, 5-3, with three runs, including a two-run home run from Travis Harvey.  A one-out pinch-hit double from Jack Schmidt (Fishers, Ind. / Indianapolis Cathedral) was wasted in the top of the sixth inning.

A 6-3 double play helped the Warriors and Richard Hovde (Saline, Mich.) keep DU quiet in the bottom of the sixth inning but Wayne State went down in order in the seventh inning.

AT THE PLATE
Foley and Justin Kelly (Wheaton, Ill. / Wheaton Warrenville South) both had two hits, while DeLanoy drove in two runs.

Davenport tallied a run in the bottom of the first inning on three two-out hits but Dillon McInerney (Richmond, Mich.) did well to limit the damage and leave two runners stranded.

Finkbeiner started the third inning with a double to left field, advanced to third on a groundout and scored a sac fly from Kelly, extending WSU's advantage to 4-1.

The Panthers scored five runs on five hits in the bottom of the fourth inning, including a three-run home run by Noah Marcoux to take a 6-4 lead.

MacLean answered immediately with a leadoff home run in the fifth inning to trim the deficit to one, 6-5.  Tristen Jorah (Clinton Twp., Mich. / Sterling Heights Stevenson) drew a two-out walk, stole second base and sprinted to third after the throw found its way into center field.  He later scored on a passed ball strikeout to tie the the game at 6-6.  Once again, DU was able to respond, scoring twice in the bottom of the fifth inning to take an 8-6 lead.  The Panthers added another run in the bottom of the sixth with an RBI ground-rule double.

Kelly smacked a double into left field to start the seventh inning and DeLanoy followed with a single.  Pinch-hitter Troy Daring, Jr. (Brampton, Ont.) drove a sacrifice fly to right center field, cutting DU's margin to two, 9-7, before the Panthers ended the game with a 6-4-3 double play.
