Women's Tennis Drops Road Match Against Palm Beach Atlantic

The Warriors play No. 2 Nova Southeastern tomorrow afternoon at 2 PM.

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. -- The Wayne State University women's tennis team (5-5 overall) fell 4-3 in a road match against Palm Beach Atlantic (4-6 overall) Monday evening at Mitch Gornto Tennis Center. 

SINGLES
Laura Cazacu (London, England) started things off with a win, defeating her opponent 6-0, 6-4 at No. 3 singles. 

Linda Liong (Sarawak, Malaysia) also collected a two-set victory at No. 4 singles, upending her foe, 6-4, 6-1. 

Sabrina Laynes (Saginaw, Mich. / Heritage) was upended at No. 6 singles, 4-6, 3-6. 

Playing at No. 2 singles, Marta Komar (Inowroclaw, Poland) came up short, losing 3-6, 4-6. 

Anais Ruyssen (Nantes, France) battled hard at No. 1 singles, but she eventually dropped her match, 6-4, 3-6, 4-6. 

Suki Mandair (Dexter, Mich. / Ann Arbor Skyline) was defeated in three sets at No. 5 singles, 6-4, 2-6, 2-6. 

DOUBLES
The Warriors earned the doubles point, as they took two of the three matches.  Ruyssen and Komar teamed up for a 6-3 win at No. 1 doubles.

Brianna Douglas (Dayton, Ohio / Chaminade Julienne) and Laynes were strong at No. 3 doubles, as they claimed a 6-4 victory. 

Liong and Cazacu were upended at No. 2 doubles, 4-6. 

UP NEXT
Things won't get any easier for the Green and Gold, as the Warriors will play at No. 2-Nova Southeastern tomorrow morning.  The match is set to begin at 11 AM.
