SAULT STE. MARIE, Mich. - The Lake Superior State women's basketball team will play two games this weekend against Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) opponents as the team continues a five game stretch of road games. The Lakers will play the Michigan Tech Huskies in Houghton, Mich. on Thursday, Jan. 16 at 5:30 p.m. and then the Northern Michigan Wildcats in Marquette, Mich. on Saturday, Jan. 18 at 3:00 p.m. 

The Lakers (6-8, 2-5 GLIAC)

The Lakers return to play following a GLIAC loss 52-42 against Northwood Timberwolves on Saturday. The Lakers are led by senior forward Lexie Khon who averages 12.2 points a game this season with a 54.0 shooting percentage. Freshman Mattison Rayman sits in second on the team with 9.5 points per game this season while Claire Radtke has also been averaging 8.6 points a game for the Lakers this season. In the team's most recent win. Rayman leads the Lakers in rebounds per game with an average of 9.3, which is fifth in the GLIAC. 

Through 14 games this season, the Lakers have averaged 54.6 points per game, 32.5 rebounds per game and a 35.9 shooting percentage. 

Michigan Tech Huskies (6-8, 4-3 GLIAC)

The Michigan Tech Huskies head into Thursday's game coming off a road win against conference opponent Purdue Northwest. The Huskies are led by Cassidy Trotter who is averaging 13.3 points per game. Trotter also leads the way during conference play with an average of 15.4 points per game. Ellie Mackay is close behind Trotter with an average of 12.4 points per game during conference play. Senior Abbie Botz leads the team with 8.1 rebounds per game in GLIAC play. 

Michigan Tech is averaging 66.7 points per game in 2019-20 with a 41.8 shooting percentage and 32.8 rebounds per game. 

Northern Michigan Wildcats (7-8, 4-3 GLIAC)

The Northern Michigan Wildcats head into Saturday's game coming off a road loss to Wisconsin Parkside. The Wildcats are led by Senior Jessica Schultz with a 14.9 points per game in conference play. Schultz also leads the way in rebounds averaging 7.6 per game. Erin Honkala is averaging 8.7 points per game, with a 7.7 average in conference play. 

Northern Michigan is averaging 50.2 points per game in 2019-20 with a 36.3 shooting percentage and 34.3 rebounds per game.

The Lakers will return home for a pair of conference games on Thursday, Jan. 23 against Purdue Northwest at 5:30 p.m. and Saturday, Jan. 25 against Wisconsin Parkside at 1:00 p.m. in the Bud Cooper Gymnasium. Thursday's game will include a halftime ceremony recognizing the Laker student-athlete who earned a GPA of 3.0 or higher during the fall semester. Mascot night will be held at the Laker basketball games on Saturday.
