Tiffin University (0-1) never got on track against Grand Valley State, falling to the Lakers 21-3 in their season-opening game.
The Dragons opened scoring in the third minute when Elle Hamilton fired home a free position shot to put TU up 1-0.
Grand Valley responded with five goals over the next six minutes to burst ahead 5-1. An unassisted goal by Hamilton in the 20th minute made it 5-2, but that was as close as TU would get as the Lakers exploded for 8 goals over the rest of the first half to lead 13-2 at halftime.
The Lakers outshot TU 24-5 by halftime, benefiting from 9 Dragons' turnovers and a 10-6 edge in draw controls.
Hamilton got her third goal early in the second half to make the score 14-3 but the rest of the Dragons' offense could not find the net. The Lakers tallied 7 more goals, compiling a 37-9 shot lead for the game. A total of 32 of GVSU's 37 shots were on goal.
TU had 14 total turnovers to the Lakers' 4, while GVSU also held a 16-10 draw control lead.
Hamilton also had 6 draw controls to go with her 3 goals.
