Volleyball Drops Two Matches to Davenport and No. 9 Oklahoma Baptist

The Tiffin University Volleyball team played two matches against Davenport and Oklahoma Baptist, losing to Davenport 25-17, 25-16, 20-25, and 29-27 and Oklahoma Baptist 25-10, 25-14, and 25-9.

Davenport:

The Panthers jumped out to a 9-4 lead after a 4-0 run. The Dragons clawed back with a 5-1 run to come within four of Davenport. The Panthers ended the set on a 7-2 run to win 25-17.

Davenport went up 6-2 early in the second set but the Dragons went on an offensive tear going on a 6-2 run to tie the set at 8-8. The Panthers slowly pulled away, leading Tiffin 19-13. A late surge by the Dragons put them within four but the Panthers won the set 25-16.

The Dragons started strong in the third set going up 6-2 early. However, the Panthers charged back to tie the game at 6-6. TU countered with an 8-1 run to lead 14-7 catapulting them to a win in the third set 25-20.

In the fourth set, Davenport got out to an early 9-4 run with the Dragons responding with a 3-0 run to put them within two of the Panthers. A timeout sparked a 5-0 run to tie the set at 12-12. The Panthers started to slowly build a cushion but the Dragons countered with a 7-1 run to take a 23-20 lead. Davenport tied the game again at 24 all and outscored the Dragons 5-3 to win the set 29-27.

Wakaya Wilson had a big match for TU, pounding out 16 kills and hitting .444, while Mikayla Greer had 10 kills and hit .333. Alivia Rew added 5 kills with 5 blocks.

No. 9 Oklahoma Baptist:

The Bison swept the Dragons in three straight sets with an average hitting percentage of .327 with 48 kills. 

The Bison went on a 4-0 run to begin the first set and opened up a comfortable 14-4 lead. The Dragons were able to string together a 3-2 run but the Bison won the first set 25-10.

No. 9 Oklahoma Baptist had a strong start to the second set as well going up 6-0. However, the Dragons countered with a 4-2 run cutting into the Bison lead. The Bison pulled away with their offense but the Dragons put together a 5-2 run to come within eight. Oklahoma won the second set 25-14.

The Bison jumped to an early 7-2 lead followed by a 7-0 run to put them up 14-3. The Bison offense poured it on in the third set and won 25-9.
