Women's Basketball Falls to Wisconsin-Parkside on the Road

KENOSHA, Wisc. - The Lake Superior State women's basketball team dropped a game against the Wisconsin-Parkside Rangers by a final score of 90-54 in a Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) game on Thursday, Feb. 20 in Kenosha, Wisc.

In the first quarter of play, the Rangers jumped out to an early lead over the Lakers as they scored 29 points compared to 16 from the Lakers. After Abigail Ostman tied the game at two within the first two minutes, the Rangers would pull ahead in the next three minutes of play taking a 13-3 lead. 

The Lakers, led by Claire Radtke with four points, would close the lead to six points in the second half of the opening quarter (16-10). However, the Rangers would close out the quarter strong with a 29-16 lead. 

In the second quarter, the Rangers would extend the lead to 18 points (34-16) in the opening minute of play. The Lakers would close the margin again, scoring six of the next eight points in the game. To close out the first half, Radtke would add back-to-back three pointers for the Lakers. 

The Lakers came out strong to open the third quarter with Ostman and Mattison Rayman combining for the first six points of the quarter. By the seven-minute mark, the Lakers would cut their deficit to 10 points (48-38). The Rangers would not let the Lakers get any closer to tying the game as Parkside closed out the quarter with 14 straight points. 

In the last ten minutes of play, the Lakers were unable to overcome the lead that the Rangers built. Parkside outscored the Lakers 28-16 in the final quarter to take the game by a final score of 88-54. 

Radtke led the Lakers in points in the game with 14 as well as a team-leading six rebounds. Rayman finished the game ranking second in both points with 10 and rebounds with four.

The Lakers will close out the pair of road games on Saturday, Feb. 22 in an afternoon game against Purdue Northwest. Tipoff is scheduled for 1:00 p.m.
