Men's Tennis Earns Win Against Tiffin

The Warriors won all six singles matches.

LEXINGTON, Ohio -- Through a series of hard-fought matches, the Wayne State University men's tennis team (3-1 overall) managed to collect a 6-1 victory against Tiffin (2-2 overall). 

SINGLES
Daniel Grey (Wiesbaden, Germany) continued his strong play at No. 1 singles, collecting a 6-7 (5), 6-3, 6-4 win. 

At No. 2 singles, Dom Spicer (London, England) battled to a 6-7 (5), 7-6 (6), 6-1 victory. 

Niklas Karcz (Bottrop, North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany) was strong at No. 3 singles, earning a 7-6 (3), 6-2 win. 

Ben Lakeman (Penzance Cornwall, England) tallied a hard-fought win at No. 4 singles.  He won by a final of 4-6, 6-4, 6-2. 

Cedric Drenth (Sulzbach, Germany) also won his singles match.  He played at No. 5 singles.  His final score was 6-0, 6-4.  

Playing at No. 6 singles, David Pluszczyk (White Lake, Mich. / Lakeland) claimed a 6-3, 4-6, 7-5 victory. 

DOUBLES
The pair of Karcz and Luke Laws (Sunderland, England) collected the only doubles win of the day for the Warriors.  The duo won, 7-5, at No. 3 doubles. 

At No. 1 doubles, Drenth and Grey fell, 5-7.  Spicer and Lakeman were upended at No. 2 doubles, 5-7.

"They played us really, really hard," coach Bryan Morrow said.  "Really impressed with this Tiffin squad.  They fought with everything they possibly had.  It was a great match. " 

UP NEXT
The Warriors will head back to Michigan for a match against Walsh.  That match will take place at Peachtree Tennis Club at 3 PM.
