Ferris State Volleyball Comes Up Short In Road Tilt At Northwood

Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University women's volleyball squad came out on the short end of a 3-1 Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) setback on the road at Northwood on Friday (March 19) evening in Midland, Mich.

The Bulldogs posted a 25-19 win in the opening set against the Timberwolves before falling In the ensuing three frames by scores of 25-18, 25-18 and 25-20 to drop to 5-4 overall and in league action.

With the win, Northwood improved to 6-3 both overall and in the GLIAC.

FSU hit only .165 overall and totaled 18 attack errors to go with 44 kills on 158 attempts. The Bulldogs also had 87 digs and five service aces with six total blocks.

The Bulldogs had three players total 10 kills, including Audrey Bellina along with Samantha Hermann and Keona Salesman. Kira Merkle added eight kills as FSU played without senior standout Katie O'Connell in the contest. 

FSU freshman Kaylee Maat had 40 assists to help the Bulldog cause while libero Nina Gorgijevska posted 32 digs. Morgan Ross added 14 digs and Bellina had 12 for the Bulldogs.

Northwood was paced by Venera Kadriu, who had 14 kills overall. Lauren Bell added a team-high 24 digs for the Timberwolves.

Overall, NU hit .203 for the match and totaled 84 digs with four aces and six blocks.

The two teams will meet in the home-and-home series finale on Saturday (March 20) with match time set for 5 p.m. (ET) at FSU's Ewigleben Sports Arena in Big Rapids.
