Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University men's basketball squad built a nine-point lead in the opening half, but could not hold on as Lake Superior State earned a hard-fought 78-72 Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) decision on Saturday (Jan. 7) night inside FSU's Jim Wink Arena.

FSU held a 36-31 halftime lead in the back and forth contest, but the Lakers outscored the Bulldogs 47-36 over the final 20 minutes to earn the win.

With the setback, Ferris State dropped to 11-5 overall and 2-3 in the GLIAC while the Lakers moved to 5-8 overall and 4-1 in conference action.

Ferris State had three players reach double-figure scoring with sophomore Ethan Erickson scoring a team-high 22 points. He went 10-of-11 from the free throw stripe.

Meanwhile, junior Ben Davidson scored 19 points and Solomon Oraegbu netted 17 points in the setback.

The Lakers were paced by Caden Ebeling's game-high 27 points. David Wren added 18 points off the bench and Xander Okerlund totaled 17 points.

As part of the evening activities, the Bulldogs honored and welcomed back former head coach Bill Sall and alumni who played for him from 2002-13.

The Bulldogs will host Purdue Northwest on Thursday (Jan. 12) at 7:30 p.m. (ET) as they continue a three-game league homestead in Big Rapids.
