23rd-ranked Dragons fall to 21st-ranked Bulldogs 4-2

Tiffin University (20-3), ranked 23rd in the nation, took on 21st-ranked Ferris State at the Midwest Regional, falling in a close match 4-2.

Tiffin fell behind early after the doubles matches. Matthew Weaver/Ruben Fonga fell 6-3 while Cyrille Colomb/Gabriel de Oliveira lost 6-2. Michael Gurtner/Matthew Telford was leading 5-3 when their match was halted.

Fonga got the Dragons their first point with a strong 7-6, 6-3 win in singles, while Telford also won in another tough match 7-6, 6-3. Gurnter, however, fell 6-3, 6-4 as the score was tied 2-2.

The deciding matches came in two three-set losses by TU. Colomb fell 7-5, 5-7, 6-2, while Maxime Navrotchi also lost in three 6-0, 4-6, 6-4. 

Tiffin's final 20-3 record is the best record in school history while its ranking of 23rd is also the best in the program's history.
