TU falls to Northwood, Gannon at Clarion tourney

Tiffin University (0-6) fell in its two opening contests at the Clarion tourney, falling to Northwood 3-1 and Gannon 3-0.

Northwood picked up a 25-16, 18-25, 25-23, 25-23 victory, using big hitting to take the match. Northwood opened strong, hitting .536 in the opening set and overall hit .253. The Timberwolves posted runs of 8-2 and 8-4 to open a solid lead and put the set away by 9 points.

Tiffin bounced back in set two, with Josie Reinhart leading the attack. A big 14-7 run by the Dragons led to a 7 point win that tied the sets at 1-1.

TU held a slim lead early and throughout the third set. With the score tied 20-20, a 5-3 run gave Northwood a 2-1 advantage heading to the fourth set.

The Dragons threatened to push it to a fifth set. With the score tied 6-6, TU went on a 12-8 run to lead 18-14. Northwood responded with a 6-2 run of their own to tie the score at 20-20. Two kills with the score tied 23-23 put the match away for Northwood.

Reinhart finished with 15 kills while hitting .481 for the match, while Wakaya Wilson also had 12 kills. Kenedi Goon added 9 kills and had a block and 5 block assists. Loryn Huffman totaled 37 assists.

Against Gannon, the Golden Knights used a .321 attack percentage to control the momentum and win 25-12, 25-16, 25-14.

The Dragons could not match the offensive attack, posting a .092 attack percentage. Wilson led the way with 9 kills while Taylor Peterson added 7 kills.
