HOUGHTON, Mich. -- The Wayne State University men's tennis team (11-11 overall, 6-2 GLIAC) defeated Michigan Tech (5-10 overall, 2-6 GLIAC), 7-2, after a 2-1 deficit after the doubles competition on Saturday morning at Gates Tennis Center in Houghton, Mich.
DOUBLES RESULTS
- Senior
Mohamed Fazyl Kechai (Paris, France) and freshman
Derek Sammons topped Richardo Paes and Juan Felipe Chica, 8-5, at the third doubles flight.
- Junior
Ryan Carlson (Armada, Mich.) and sophomore
Harvey Reed (Winchester, England) fell in a close, 9-7, match to Built Yumuang and Nick Kremkow at No. 2 doubles, while junior
Clement Charriere (Marseille, France) and freshman
Taylor Vane (Southampton, England) lost, 8-4, to Mario Neto and Robin Duhnsen at the first doubles position.
SINGLES RESULTS
- Charriere won in two sets (6-3, 6-3) over Neto at the second singles flight, and sophomore
Luke Ruocco (Lewes, England) bested Chica, 6-2, 6-4, at No. 5 singles.
- Carlson defeated Paes, 6-4, 6-2, at the sixth singles position, and Reed notched a two-set victory (6-4, 6-4) over Kremkow at the fourth singles flight.
- Kechai topped Duhnsen, 6-4, 6-4, at No. 1 singles, while Vane beat Yumuang, 7-6(5), 7-5, at the third singles position.
UP NEXT
- The Warriors will travel to Sault Ste. Marie, Mich. to take on Lake Superior State in the last match of the regular season on Sunday. The match is slated for 10 a.m.
