KENOSHA, Wis. - The Lake Superior State University men's basketball team (9-12, 8-5 GLIAC) narrowly fell on the road to the Rangers of Wisconsin-Parkside (17-6, 10-3 GLIAC) by a final score of 82-79 on Saturday.

C.J. Robinson (Clarkston, Mich.) opened up the scoring with a three as the Lakers pulled ahead for an early 8-2 advantage. The Rangers tied up the score, but the Lakers would once again pull ahead with multiple baskets from Kemon Bassett (Detroit, Mich.) and a Tyson Edmondson (Ypsilanti, Mich.) three. Both teams would then go back and forth for the remainder of the opening half, but a late and-one opportunity would allow Parkside to take a 42-40 lead into the halftime break. 

The Rangers struck first in the second half, but Bassett would hit a three to cut the lead back down to two as both teams battled with David Wren (Ypsilanti, Mich.) knotting up the score at 55-55. Each team always seemed to have an answer for one another throughout the second half, but the Rangers would eventually pull ahead by nine with just under four minutes remaining. A Robinson three and a pair of free throws from Wren brought their team back to within four, but they would find themselves down by six with thirty seconds left on the clock. Then, Xander Okerlund (Empire, Mich.) would score a tough basket while being fouled, and after missing the free throw, Robinson crashed the offensive glass as the ball found its way to Wren for a three to bring the Lakers back to within one. Parkside would convert a pair of free throws at the other end, but the Lakers still found themselves in a one possession game. However, their late attempt to tie the game would fall just short as the Rangers held on for the victory.

Despite the loss, four Lakers finished scoring double-figures, led by Caden Ebeling (Shelby Twp., Mich.) with 22. Bassett was not far behind with 20 points of his own, and Robinson and Wren ended the night with 15 and 12 points, respectively.
