Bulldog Volleyball's NCAA Tourney Run Ends In Regional Championship Match

Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University women's volleyball squad's run in the NCAA Tournament came to an end on Saturday (Nov. 19) as the Bulldogs fell 3-2 to Missouri-St. Louis in the Midwest Regional Championship match in Quincy, Ill.

The Bulldogs, who were competing in the regional final for the second-straight year, jumped in front early as they took the first two sets by 25-21 and 28-26 scores. However, UMSL rallied to claim the third frame 25-18 and then tied the match up with a 25-16 triumph in the fourth.

Finally, in the deciding frame, the score was tied late before the Tritons secured the momentum down the stretch and pulled out a 15-11 margin.

Olivia Henneman-Dallape led the Bulldogs with 16 kills and Emma Bleecher tallied 12 kills to go with 10 by Syann Fairfield.

The duo of Charlotte Richards and Lexie Rang combined with 20 kills apiece for Missour-St. Lousis

The Bulldogs' Leah Bylut netted 33 digs in the setback with Claire Nowicki adding 20 digs for FSU. Bleecher chipped in with 15 digs and Alina Anderson totaled 14 for FSU. Sophomore setter Kaylee Maat finished with 45 assists and 16 digs in the outing.

Ferris State came up with 20 block assists and two solo blocks to go with seven aces.

The Bulldogs closed the year with a 26-10 overall record and FSU also won the GLIAC Regular-Season and Tournament Champions this year. The bulk of the Ferris State playing rotation is slated to return next year.
