ROMEOVILLE, Ill. -- The Wayne State University baseball program (32-15) split at Lewis (19-22-1) on Saturday, winning game one 14-0 before falling in the nightcap 2-1.  WSU is finishing the regular season with three games with the Flyers before heading to the GLIAC Tournament in Indiana next week.

GAME ONE (W, 14-0)
HOW IT HAPPENED

Two errors and five walks in the top of the first inning allowed WSU to score five runs.  Michael MacLean (Bloomfield Hills, Mich. / Country Day / The Lawrenceville School), Jacob Finkbeiner (Saline, Mich.), Noah Miller (Macomb, Mich. / University Liggett), Brett Zimmerman (Frankfort, Mich.) and Jacob Badalamenti (Harrison Twp., Mich. / Warren De La Salle) all collected RBI.

Hunter DeLanoy (Hartland, Mich.) singled home a run in the top of the third inning to extend the visitors' advantage to 6-0.

The Green & Gold added two more runs in the top of the fourth inning on RBI from Finkbeiner and Miller.

A two-run double from Rudy Ramirez (Brighton, Mich.) gave the Warriors a 10-0 lead in the top of the fifth inning.  Finkbeiner collected his third RBI of the game with an infield single to third base.  Miller sent a single down the left field line in the top of the seventh inning to plater another run before a throwing error made it 13-0.  Badalamenti doubled home a run to put the final score at 14-0.

Two hits in the bottom of the third allowed the Flyers to score the game's first run.  Lewis added a run on a sacrifice fly in the bottom of the fourth inning.

After a single and a walk, WSU scored a run on an error following a bunt by Badalamenti.

The first two hitters were retired in the seventh inning but WSU loaded the bases on two walks and hit-by-pitch.  The pattern continued as the Green & Gold left three runners on base to end the contest.
