Cardinals pick up GLIAC win in three at Pride

WESTVILLE, Ind. – The Saginaw Valley State University volleyball team cruised to a three-set win over Purdue Northwest in a Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Thursday in Westville, Ind.

The Cardinals jumped out early with a 25-11 win in set one before closing the contest, taking sets two and threes, 25-20 and 25-21, respectively. The win moves SVSU to 12-4 overall and 4-4 in the GLIAC. The match was a makeup from earlier this season.

Maria Vukaj led the Cardinals with nine kills, hitting .500. Vukaj added 11 digs and three total blocks. Rylee Zimmer added eight kills and three block assists, while reigning GLIAC North Division Player of the Week, Sarah Veale, added six kills.

Peyton Gerstacker recorded 30 assists to lead the Cardinals. Kelsey Vittitow finished with 11 digs and Haley Clum finished with three block assists.

The Cardinals remain at PNW for the NCAA Regional Crossover Tournament, starting against Missouri S&T at Noon EST on Friday.
