Bulldogs Pick Up 21st Win Of The Season To Cap 2019-20 Regular Season Over Lakers

Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University women's basketball team finished the 2019-20 regular season campaign with their 21st victory in a 71-65 Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) win over the Lake Superior State Lakers. 

Ferris State senior forward Riley Blair picked up a game-best 24 points, while senior forward Lilly George chipped in 15. Freshman guard Mallory McCartney finished with 12 for the Bulldogs.

Ferris State took an 11-point lead to the locker room, but the Lakers finished with a 40-35 second half edge as they ground their way back into the contest late.

A pair of late free throws by Blair cemented the final as the Bulldogs moved to 21-7 overall.

Ferris State shot 50 percent from beyond the arc in the opening half, but struggle from the field in the second. Ferris State hit nine fourth quarter free throws, while the Lakers shot just 50 percent from the charity stripe making only four tries from the line in the game as the Bulldogs pulled away late.

Ferris State dominated the glass with 42 boards to Lake Superior State's 27 int he contest. McCartney had a game-best nine for the Bulldogs, while George had seven. McCartney also had a team-best four assists and a pair of steals in the game.

The Lakers were led in scoring by Claire Radtke who finished with 21 points, while Lexie Kohn picked up 19 in the contest.

Ferris State had a 38-26 edge as well in points in the paint on the evening.

The Bulldogs, now seeded third headed for the GLIAC Tournament Quarterfinals, will host a Quarterfinal contest on Tuesday (March 3) inside Jim Wink Arena.
