Bulldogs Storm Past Parkside To Open League Matchup In Wisconsin

Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University women's volleyball squad opened Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) play on the road this weekend in an impressive way as the Bulldogs beat Parkside 3-0 in a sweep on Friday (March 26) at DeSimone Gymnasium in Kenosha, Wis.

The Bulldogs rolled past the host Rangers by a score of 25-19, 25-23 and 25-17 to move to 7-4 overall and in GLIAC play.

Ferris State hit .215 for the match and came up with 35 kills and only 12 errors on 107 attempts while notching 52 digs to go with eight service aces and 10 total blocks.

The Bulldogs were led by freshman Keona Salesman, who notched a team-leading 10 kills in a balanced effort. Senior Katie O'Connell returned to the lineup and had seven kills with Samantha Hermann adding six kills for the Bulldogs.

Defensively, libero Nina Gorgijevska posted 22 digs and O'Connell had 10 more in the win. Freshman setter Kaylee Maat totaled 28 assists for FSU.

The Rangers were limited to a .108 attack figure with 36 kills and 23 errors on 120 attempts. They also notched 54 digs and four service aces with four blocks and seven service miscues.

Parkside was paced by Reese Rossnagel, who had 10 kills. Kaylle Kuecker had 17 digs and Alsya Brickl compiled 14 assists.

The two teams will meet in the  weekend finale on Saturday (March 27) with match time set for 3 p.m. (ET) at Parkside.
