Dragons fall to Bulldogs 4-3 in narrow regional tussle

Tiffin University (2-1) fell 4-3 to Ferris State in a battle of regional heavyweights.

The Dragons (ranked 25th in the nation and 7th regionally) and the Bulldogs (ranked 23rd in the country and 3rd in the region) had a classic battle, with TU getting on the board first with two victories in doubles.

Michael Gurtner/Matthew Telford had a 6-4 win while Ruben Fonga/Matthew Weaver picked up a 6-3 decision. Cyrille Colomb/Maxime Navrotchi fell 6-3.

Fonga won a tough three-setter at first singles 6-1, 4-6, 6-1, while Gurtner breezed to a 6-2, 6-1 win. The Bulldogs, however, picked up their four points by pulling out three three-set singles matches.

Telford fell 2-6, 6-3, 6-4, while Weaver also squandered a one-set lead 6-7 (7-4), 6-4, 6-4. Navrotchi also won his first set 6-0 but then fell in the next two 6-2, 6-2. Colomb also fell 6-4, 6-3.
