Oilers Blast Northwood 7-3

The University of Findlay men's soccer team crushed Northwood University by a score of 7-3 on Sep. 2 at DeHaven Field. The victory gives the Oilers a 1-0 record on the year.

The Oilers were led by sophomore Nick McCracken. The Findlay, Ohio native scored four goals on the day to tie a school record for most goals scored and most points scored in a game. His four goals tie both Zach Grieshop (1998) and Omar Farraj (1989) and his eight points tie Alex Kerstetter (2017), Zach Grieshop (1998), and Omar Farraj (1989).

McCracken, who tied the Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC) for goals scored (4), is now ranked second all-time in the conference for most points in a game.

McCracken's first goal came at the 7:08 mark on an assist from sophomore, Mitchell Hanosh to put the Oilers on the board. His next goal came at the 19th minute off an assist from sophomore, Peyton Trask. Rounding at his first half performance came his third goal at the 32:39 mark. He started the second half putting the Oilers up another goal in the 55th minute from an assist from junior, David Hug. McCracken's four goals matched his four goals of the shortened 2021 season.

Also joining the scoring frenzy were Bjoern Gilles, Peyton Trask, and Zach Lauron who all contributed one goal apiece.

On the defensive side, goal keeper, Andrew Boulton had seven saves on the day.

The Oilers will be back in action at DeHaven Field Sunday, Sep. 5 at 1pm. They will take on Slippery Rock University of Pennsylvania.
