Winter Haven, Fla.-For the second straight day, The University of Bridgeport softball team split two games in Florida on their annual spring jaunt to Florida on Sunday, as the Purple Knights opened the day with a 6-2 victory over Davenport and then closed the day with a 7-4 loss to Fairmont State. With the split, Bridgeport now stand with an overall record of 3-2 so far on the young 2022 season.
In Sunday's win over Davenport, junior Kaite Burawski (Hartley, Del.) again sparkled in the pitching circle earning her second win of season, as she fanned 15 batters.
Samantha Schiebe (Jr., Monroe, Conn.) slammed her second home run in as many days to help lead the Purple Knights offense.
In the loss to Fairmont State, UB committed three errors which led to four unearned runs for the winners.
Junior Taylor Yates (Elk Grove, Calif.) homered in the loss for Bridgeport.
The UB softball team will be right back in action in Florida on Monday playing for the fourth straight day before taking Tuesday off with a pair of games, facing Holy Family to get things started at 10:00 a.m. and then taking on Wilmington (Del.) at 12:15 p.m.
