Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University men's basketball squad closed out its exhibition season with a hard-fought 88-75 setback at NCAA Division I Michigan on Friday (Nov. 4) night at the Crisler Center in Ann Arbor.

The Bulldogs battled the Wolverines close in the opening game, keeping the game as a single-digit difference most of the way, and then made a late charge to trim down UM's lead in the second half.

FSU out rebounded Michigan 47-36 for the night thanks in part to 17 offensive rebounds for the Bulldogs. Ferris State also finished with only 12 turnovers in the game, but was limited to 38.9% shooting against the longer and bigger Wolverines.

Ferris State was paced by Solomon Oraegbu, who compiled a team-high 16 points in the game. Junior post Vejas Grazulis added 13 points and pulled down seven rebounds while battling against one of the nation's top interior players in Division I basketball in Michigan's Hunter Dickinson.

Along with the two in double-figures, the Bulldogs got nine points from newcomer Amari Lee to go with eight points by sophomore guard Ethan Erickson. Both Dolapo Olayinka and Ben Davidson added seven points each in the balanced effort.

Michigan was led by Jett Howard, who sparkled with a game-high 30 points on 10-of-12 shooting while knocking down six-of-eight three's in the contest. Kobe Bufkin added 21 points and Dug McDaniel scored 11 points for the Wolverines, who shot 53.6% overall from the floor and nailed 11-of-23 (47.8%) three's in the win.

Ferris State owned a 40-24 edge in points scored inside the paint and an 18-4 margin in second chance scoring for the contest.

The Bulldogs will open regular-season action on Nov. 11-12 at the Robert Garrett Crossover Classic hosted by Trevecca Nazarene University in Nashville, Tenn. FSU faces the host school on Friday, Nov. 11, to open the event at 6:30 p.m. (ET) before taking on Southwest Baptist (Mo.) on Nov. 12.
