Ferris State Women's Tennis Records Victory Over Hope College In Non-League Play

Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University women's tennis team captured its third consecutive victory on Saturday (Feb. 27) as the Bulldogs beat Hope College by a 7-0 score on the road.

Ferris State, which is now 3-3 overall, has claimed three-straight wins since falling in its opening three outings of the year to NCAA Division I competition.

The Bulldogs handled Hope College in the doubles round, winning all three flights, and then came back in singles play to sweep the six positions.

"I'd like to give credit today to Volunteer assistant coach Martin Birchmeier," said FSU head coach Mark Doren. "This was our first match where the men and women played at the same time and he was awesome today as I moved back and forth. It is great to have someone like him to rely on."

Doren also noted the play of freshman Alyssa Zellers, who earned her first collegiate victory after beginning as a team manager and moving into the lineup to step in for two injured teammates today.

Overall, FSU utilized seven different competitors in the lineup and all seven had at least one win to help the Bulldog cause with five earning double victories.

Ferris State will hit the court again on Sunday (Feb. 28) as FSU visits Hillsdale for a regional tilt starting at 12 p.m. (ET) in Hillsdale, Mich.
