HILLSDALE -- The SVSU Women's Tennis team hit the road for its first match of the spring on Sunday (Feb. 2), taking on the Hillsdale College Chargers. Hillsdale would come out ahead in the end, posting a 7-0 victory over the Cardinals.
In doubles action, Maddie Miller and Taylor McLaughlin fell by a narrow 7-5 score at the #1 position while Joanne Gao and Gyselle Daza Gutierrez dropped their match at #2 6-4. Nicole Johnson and Adiya Young fell 6-0 at #3.
Miller had a three-set contest in #1 singles, taking the first set 6-2 before falling 6-2, 6-3 in the final two. Gao had a 7-6, 6-4 defeat at #2 singles in another close contest. McLaughlin fell 6-2, 6-4 at #3 singles, Gutierrez 6-2, 6-1 at #4, Sara Neves lost 6-3, 6-1 in the #5 position and Johnson fell at #6 6-4, 6-2.
