Men's Tennis Stumbles At No. 3-Saint Leo

Cedric Drenth and Niklas Karcz each won singles matches.

SAINT LEO, Fla. -- The No. 21-Wayne State University men's tennis team (11-4 overall) was defeated 5-2 by No. 3-Saint Leo (11-2 overall) Tuesday afternoon at the Saint Leo Tennis Center.  

SINGLES
Niklas Karcz (Bottrop, North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany) earned a 3-6, 6-0, 6-3 victory at No. 2 singles.

Cedric Drenth (Sulzbach, Germany) also collected a singles win, posting a 2-6, 6-1, 6-3 victory at No. 5 singles. 

At No. 1 singles, Dom Spicer (London, England) was upended 3-6, 3-6. 

Luke Laws (Sunderland, England) fell at No. 6 singles, 2-6, 2-6. 

Playing at No. 3 singles, Daniel Grey (Wiesbaden, Germany) was defeated 0-6, 2-6. 

Finally, at No. 4 singles, Ben Lakeman (Penzance Cornwall, England) came up short, falling to his opponent 4-6, 4-6. 

DOUBLES
The Warriors struggled at doubles, losing all three of the matches. Spicer and Laws were defeated 1-6 at No. 2 doubles.

Grey and Drenth stumbled at No. 1 doubles, losing 4-6. 

At No. 3 doubles, Lakeman and Karcz lost, 2-6. 

UP NEXT
The Warriors will conclude their Florida road trip with a match against the top-ranked team in the country.  The Green and Gold will play Barry on March 17 at 3 PM.
