Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University women's soccer team earned a 1-1 tie with the Saginaw Valley State Cardinals on Friday (Sept. 30) at the Bulldog Soccer Field in Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) play.

Ferris State opened the scoring for the contest at 5:55 when sophomore Lindsay Cole sprang senior Isabella Zamborini free for a break. Zamborini crossed a shot that trickled in off the left goal post for a 1-0 Bulldog lead and her team-leading fifth goal of the season. The assist was Cole's second of the year.

By the half, Ferris State had an 8-4 shots advantage, though Saginaw Valley State had a narrow 2-1 shots on goal edge.

Midway through the second half, Stephanie Strong evened the score for SVSU, lifting a shot past Ferris State sophomore keeper Darya Mosallaei to tie the game at 1-1 at 69:59.

Ferris State finished with a 19-13 lead in shots, though SVSU held a 6-3 shots on goal advantage in the game.

In goal, Mosallaei made five stops in the draw for the Bulldogs. The Cardinals had to turn to Lainey Garbarz in relief just 16:03 into the contest after Kennedi Pugh left the contest shaken up. Garbarz made two saves in the game, while Pugh made one and allowed the goal to Zamborini. Garbarz earned the result for the Cardinals in net.

Ferris State moved to 4-3-3 with the draw, and is off of league play until next week. The Bulldogs will play a non-conference rescheduled game, when they host Northwood on Monday (Oct. 3) at 4 p.m. (ET) at the Bulldog Soccer Field.
