UNIVERSITY CENTER, Mich. - The Saginaw Valley State University women's soccer team earned a 2-1 double-overtime victory over the visiting University of Wisconsin-Parkside Rangers on Friday at the SVSU Practice Field. With the win, SVSU moves to 11-4-2 overall and 8-4-1 in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference. 

The Cardinals struck first in the 55th minute when Sarah Fredrick sent a shot towards the net that the Parkside goalie mishandled. Amy Babon was right there for the rebound and she scored to make it 1-0. It was the senior's eighth goal of the season.

Later in the second half, SVSU fouled Parkside's Myah Strokosch in the box and the Rangers were awarded a penalty kick. Strokosch sent the shot past Olivia Argeros and made it 1-1 in the 63rd minute. 

After a scoreless first overtime period, the Cardinals found the game-winning goal in the 105th minute. Sara Samolinski sent a cross into the box, and Stephanie Strong fired it past the Parkside goalie and the Cardinals earned the 2-1 victory.

For Strong, it was the freshman's 13th, breaking the school record for goals in a season. The Howell, Mich., native broke the record previously shared by Jenna Prior (2004), Tammie Edmunds (2006), Kim Oberski (2008), and Jaclyn Barnett (2009).

Argeros made six saves in net for SVSU. The Cardinals outshot the Rangers 31-13. 

The Cardinals host Purdue Northwest in the regular-season finale at 1 pm Sunday.
