Foley drove in a run with RBI fielder's choice in the fourth inning before Finkbeiner stretched the visitor's lead to 14-0 with a two-run double to right field.  DU broke through for its first run with a sac fly in the bottom of the fifth inning.  The Panthers added two more runs in the inning to trim the deficit to 14-3.

WSU scored six more runs on four hits in the top of the sixth inning starting with a two-run single from Foley before an RBI single from Finkbeiner and an RBI ground-rule double gave WSU an 18-3 lead.  Robert Iacobelli (Rochester Hills, Mich. / Brother Rice) delivered a pinch-hit RBI groundout and DeLanoy made it 20-3 with another RBI groundout.

Finkbeiner singled home WSU's 21st run of the game in the top of the ninth inning, while another tally was added on a passed ball.  A bases-loaded walk issued to Iacobelli made it 23-3 and Greg McDade (Sterling Heights, Mich. / Stevenson) sent an RBI single into right field.  WSU took a 25-3 advantage with a sac fly from Zach Girard (Sleepy Hollow, Ill. / Dundee Crown).  Michael Toth (Northville, Mich. / Detroit Catholic Central) singled to left field to drive home the 26th and final run of the day.
