Ferris State Runs Past Purdue Northwest Behind McCartney's Career Day

Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University women's basketball squad bounced back in a big way as the Bulldogs topped Purdue Northwest 84-49 on the road in Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) play on Saturday (Feb. 20) afternoon in Hammond, Ind.

The Bulldogs, who fell in double-overtime to the Pride on Friday evening, came back to notch the win behind a career day from sophomore guard Mallory McCartney. She finished with a game and career-best 38 points on 15-of-21 shooting while knocking down seven-of-11 three's in the victory.

Along with McCartney, junior forward Zoe Anderson had 12 points and freshman guard Kadyn Blanchard notched 10 for the Bulldogs.

FSU took a 23-16 edge after the first quarter and increased the margin by outscoring PNW 19-6 in the second period. The Bulldogs also owned the third quarter with a 15-8 advantage and finished the game off by outscoring the Pride 27-19 in the fourth.

Overall, FSU shot 56.4% from the floor and the Bulldogs hit on 10-of-20 (50%) three's along with 12-of-17 (70.6%) free throws.

Ferris State also grabbed a 40-33 rebounding edge and limited Purdue Northwest to only 28.3% shooting. The Pride finished five-of-26 (19.2%) from long range and 10-of-20 (50%) at the line.

Danielle Nennig led Purdue Northwest with 13 points, but was the only PNW player to reach double-figure scoring.

Ferris State will return home to host Wayne State in the final two GLIAC regular-season games on Feb. 26-27 at Jim Wink Arena. Both games on Friday and Saturday start at 3 p.m. (ET).
