Allen records six total bases.

Decatur, Ala. -- The sixth-ranked Wayne State University softball team (1-4 overall) suffered a 7-2 setback to second-ranked North Georgia (13-1 overall) Sunday morning to start day three of the 2011 Charger Chillout.

The Warriors grabbed an early 1-0 lead in the top of the first as junior third baseman Rebecca Stanley (Waterloo, Ont. / Waterloo C.I.) coaxed a walk with two outs and junior first baseman Rebecca Ryan (Westland, Mich. / Dearborn Divine Child) followed with an RBI triple down the right field line.  It was Ryan's second career triple in 123 collegiate games.

WSU starting pitcher freshman Lauren McLaughlin (Oakville, Ont. / Holy Trinity) held the Saints scoreless until the fourth.

NGCSU tallied all seven of its runs in the fourth on five hits, two Wayne State errors, a hit by pitch and a walk.  Only three of the Saints runs were earned.

Warrior junior right fielder Alison Allen (Redford, Mich. / Farmington Hills Mercy) smacked a home run with two outs in the top of the seventh for WSU's final run.

McLaughlin (1-1) struck out four and walked two while allowing nine hits in six innings.

WSU faced All-American pitcher Sarah Phillips for just 2.1 innings.  Wayne State managed one hit off Phillips, but she hit three batters and walked another.

Allen had two of WSU's four hits and recorded a WSU season-best six total bases.  Ryan and senior designated player Rachel Spaccarotelli (Ray, Mich. / Romeo) each had extra-base hits.

The Warriors stranded six runners in the contest including at Ryan at third in the first, and the bases loaded in the second.  WSU went 1-for-10 with runners on base.

Wayne State will conclude play in the Charger Chillout with a game later today against Arkansas-Monticello.
