GAME HIGHLIGHTS

  • It was a chippy game all around as a total of seven yellow cards were handed out (Northwood – 5, SVSU – 2). The teams combined for 22 fouls during the game.
  • Neil Langan was the first player to put a crooked number on the board for either team. Langan received a free kick from Seamus Quinn in the 22' that he headed in the bottom right corner of the goal, 1-0 NU.
  • In the 34', a bevy of bodies near Northwood's goal would result in a blocked shot ricocheting off a Northwood defender and into their own goal, 1-1.
  • Saginaw's Jonathan Monney was a big part of SVSU's offense, Monney totaled 5 shots and a goal in the 48' to put SVSU up 2-1.
  • Another mistake by the Timberwolves would occur in the 51' as a Northwood header would result in the ball bouncing past the goalkeeper into the back of NU's net, 3-1 SVSU.
  • Northwood would not go down without a fight, although the Timberwolves were more than doubled in the number of shots taken, 19-8, the ones that were taken mattered.
  • Quinn would then put the Timberwolves on his back as he scored two unanswered goals in the final 30 minutes.
