TU dominates Spartans 16-2

Tiffin University (3-3) dominated defensively against St. Thomas Aquinas, reaching .500 on the season with a strong 16-2 performance.

Tiffin held a commanding 24-7 shot advantage, allowing just 3 shots in the second half. TU allowed just one goal on offense, with the Spartans' opening goal coming on a free position shot.

TU forced 12 turnovers and had their way on the draw, holding a 14-6 lead. TU wasted little time getting on the board, scoring 3 goals in 3 minutes. Gina Abulone scored a free position goal and another unassisted goal to put TU up 2-0. This was followed by Amie Morrison's goal off a pass from Elle MacMillan to make it 3-0.

After STAC's free position goal, TU scored five more goals in the half to take an 8-1 halftime lead. Tori Nelson and MacMillan scored two goals apiece, with Abulone getting 2 assists. Amanda Flotteron also scored as TU took total control.

The second half was more of the same, with TU putting up the first 5 goals of the half. Elle Hamilton tallied 2 goals, while Abulone, MacMillan, and Morrison also scored again. TU held a 13-1 lead at this point with 23 minutes remaining.

Tori Nelson tallied a couple more goals as Tiffin emptied their bench over the closing 15 minutes. Kayla Ropos finished the scoring for TU with a free position goal with 9:16 left.

Overall Abulone had 3 goals and 4 assists along with 2 ground balls. MacMillan had 3 goals and an assist, while Hamilton finished with 2 goals and an assist. Nelson had 4 goals and 7 draw controls, while Morrison finished with 2 goals. Ropos and Flotteron scored goals, and Maddy Batley had an assist.

Kat Schneeberger got the win in goal, making 3 saves over 50 minutes. Amanda Archer also finished up the final 10 minutes.
