Fourth quarter sinks Dragons 75-70

Tiffin University (6-18, 4-15 GLIAC) battled Walsh throughout their contest but a tough final quarter sank the Dragons 75-70.

Tiffin, trailing at the half 29-25, came out firing in the third quarter and threatened to take control of the game. Trailing 32-27 at the time, TU rallied for a big 12-0 run that put them ahead 39-32 with 5:34 to play in the quarter.

TU finished the quarter with a final edge of 24-15 and held a 49-44 lead heading to the final period.

Walsh, though, rocketed out of the gate to start the fourth quarter. They exploded on a 16-2 run that put them ahead 62-53 with 5:00 to play. Tiffin tried to rally but could cut the deficit to no less than 5 points. The Cavaliers hit 3 free throws in the final minute of play to pick up the win.

The Dragons shot 41 percent in the game with 9 three pointers but could not shut down Walsh inside, where the Cavs held a 42-26 scoring edge along with a 38-33 rebounding edge. Walsh also benefited from 22 points off 16 TU turnovers and a 12-0 margin in fastbreak points.

Tiggie Sanabria had one of her best games of the year, totaling 18 points, while Bre Nauman had 12 points and 11 rebounds on Senior Day. Ali Schirmer and Sarah Cummings both had 10 points each with Cummings also grabbing 7 rebounds, while Deidre McKayand Kristen Massey also had 8 points each. McKay, a senior, also had 5 assisits.
