Argeros with 7th shutout, Cardinals beat Panthers 2-0

UNIVERSITY CENTER, Mich. - The Saginaw Valley State University women's soccer team defeated the Davenport University Panthers 2-0 in Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference play on Friday afternoon at Braddock Field. The Cardinals scored both goals in the first half en route to victory. With the win, SVSU moves to 8-2-2 overall and 5-2-1 in the GLIAC.

The Cardinals first goal came in the 28th minute, when Stephanie Strong scored off a cross by Lea Grunnagel. In the 33rd minute Grunnagel picked up her second assist of the game when she found Solana Kelly in the box to make it 2-0. The Panthers tried to mount a comeback, but came up empty and SVSU picked up the victory.

The Panthers outshot the Cardinals 17-16. Olivia Argeros continued to be solid in goal for SVSU, making seven saves. 

SVSU will host Northwood University at 3:00 p.m. Sunday from Braddock Field.
