Guinane, who was making his second career start, completed 4-of-6 on the drive for 70 yards with his final completion being the first career reception for freshman tight end
Nathan White (Toledo, Ohio/St. Francis de Sales). Two plays before White's catch, senior wide receiver
Dominique Maybanks (Muskegon, Mich.) extended his reception streak to 21 games with a 13-yard grab on a third-and-nine play from the SVSU 32.
On a second-and-goal from the one, Guinane was unable to handle the snap with the ball bouncing into the end zone where it was recovered by Cardinal Brian Johnson.
On the ensuing drive, Saginaw Valley signal caller Jonathon Jennings was stopped by Warrior senior linebacker
Moe Davenport (Southfield, Mich.) for no gain on a fourth-and-one from the WSU 49.
The first quarter stats were nearly even with WSU holding a 70-69 edge in passing yards along with an 18-9 advantage in rushing yards.
Following SVSU's third punt of the game early in the second period, Wayne State went 51 yards in nine plays to take a 7-0 lead. WSU converted both third down plays on the drive as junior quarterback
