Women's Basketball Earns 78-72 Road Win At Purdue Northwest

RECAP: Northwood women's basketball earns a 78-72 road win over Purdue Northwest Saturday afternoon (January 15).
FIRST QUARTER
- Northwood scored the opening four points of the game and led the remainder of the quarter.
- The Pride cut the lead to at 7-6 before the Timberwolves finished the quarter with an Ellie Taylor 3-pointer at the buzzer to take a 19-13 lead.
- Northwood ended the first quarter at 37.5 percent from the floor, making 6-16 overall. The Timberwolves connected on 3-8 from the 3-point line and 4-4 from the foul line in the opening 10 minutes.
- Purdue Northwest finished the first at 45.5 percent, making 5-11 overall. The Pride made their only 3-point attempt and both of their free throws.
SECOND QUARTER
- The Timberwolves pushed their lead to seven points early in the second, going up 23-16 with 8:18 remaining.
- PNW got hot from the floor at that point, making their first five shots of the second to go up 30-29 with four minutes remaining.
- The score eventually was tied at 34-34 at the break.
- Northwood was 7-18 from the floor in the second, good for 38.9 percent overall. NU missed both of their 3-pointers and went 1-2 from the foul line.
- Purdue Northwest had a strong offensive quarter in the second, going 6-8 from the floor (75.0 percent). The Pride was 2-2 from the 3-point line and 7-8 from the foul line in the second.
THIRD QUARTER
- Northwood's 3-point shooting early, making their first four triples of the second half, getting the lead up to 46-36 just three minutes into the second half.
- The Timberwolves pushed their lead to as many as 14 before the Pride finished the quarter with a 9-2 run to make the score 58-51 heading to the final quarter.
- The Timberwolves scored 24 points in the third, going 8-17 from the floor overall (47.1 percent). NU was 4-6 from beyond the 3-point arc and 4-7 from the foul line.
- Purdue Northwest continued to shoo the ball well from the floor in the third, going 6-10 overall. PNW missed both of their 3-point attempts and was 5-10 from the foul line.
FOURTH QUARTER
- Northwood led by 10 twice early in the final quarter and led throughout the final 10 minutes, but the Pride stayed close.
- PNW got within four at 71-67 with 1:45 remaining, but that is as close as the Pride would get.
- A Purdue Northwest 3-pointer at the buzzer made the final score 78-72.
- The Timberwolves were 6-15 (40.0 percent) in the final quarter. NU was 2-3 from 3-point range and 6-10 from the foul line.
- Purdue Northwest had their third straight quarter shooting at least 50.0 percent, ending the fourth making 8-16 overall (50.0 percent). The Pride was 3-9 from the 3-point line and 2-2 on free throws.
