DETROIT – The Saginaw Valley State University women's tennis team returned to action with a Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference contest at Wayne State University Friday in Detroit.
The Cardinals were shorthanded, forced to forfeit No. 3 doubles and No. 6 singles, as the Warriors went on for the 7-0 win, dropping SVSU to 4-9 overall and 2-5 in the GLIAC.
SVSU's best match of the day came from Emma Charlton at No. 2 singles, as she pushed her opponent to three sets before falling 7-6, 2-6, 10-4 (TB). Chelsea Dzenga also battled in a close match at No. 3 singles before falling 6-3. 6-4.
GLIAC competition continues for the Cardinals against Ashland University at 2 pm Saturday in Ashland, Ohio.
