With the loss, the Pioneers' record dropped to 7-9 overall and to 5-7 in the conference while the Panthers, with the win, improved to 6-12 overall and to 3-9 in GLIAC play.
While the battle remained close in the first half, with the host Pioneers even leading by as many as seven points, at 19-12, midway through the period, it was second-half shooting struggles and a 15-9 deficit in the turnover area that proved costly for Malone in the loss.

In the second half, the Panthers continued to pull away from the Pioneers, using a 16-3 run to open a 46-29 lead with 14:20 remaining. The ODU advantage remained between 14 and 22 points for the remainder of the game as the Pioneers were unable to put together a comeback run in the 15-point Ohio Dominican win.
For Malone, three Pioneers reached twin figures in scoring as guard
Rachel Goddard led the way with 14 points while also tallying four rebounds and a pair of assists. Guard
Audrey Myers followed with 12 points while also contributing a team-best (tied) six boards and guard
