INDIANAPOLIS- The University of Indianapolis football team (6-2, 5-2 GLIAC) notched its fourth straight victory with a 38-31 home win versus Northern Michigan (3-5, 2-5) Saturday night.  Senior receiver Ryan Forney racked up nine catches for a career-high 241 yards and two touchdowns.

Although Forney's yardage output came five yards short of setting a new program record for receiving yards in a game, the Crown Point, Ind., native surpassed 2,000 receiving yards for his career in Saturday's second quarter.  He is just the fifth Greyhound to reach the milestone.

Forney's partner in crime, Mar'Quone Edmonds, also had a big night, as the junior receiver amassed 128 yards on eight catches.  He nearly had an even bigger night, as he caught a 22-yard pass in the end zone late in the game, only to be ruled out of bounds.

The Hounds found themselves down 13 points after the first quarter, their largest home deficit of the season.  Northern Michigan got a pair of rushing touchdowns from senior quarterback Carter Kopach in the opening quarter alone.

The UIndy offense came alive in the second quarter, however, as the Hounds put two quick touchdowns on the board early in the second to earn the one-point lead.  Sophomore Klay Fiechter punched it in from the one-yard line to cap to period's first drive, and 88 seconds later, Forney took a quick slant the distance for a 45-yard score.

The Greyhounds made it 21 unanswered when they covered 80 yards in just three plays to take a 21-13 lead into the half.

NMU tied it twice in the second half, the second coming on a 24-yard field goal on the first play of the fourth quarter that knotted it  at 24, but UIndy managed to pull away with a pair of long touchdowns late in the contest.

With just over 12 minutes left in the game, Fiechter found the corner and turned on the jets, out-running the Wildcat defense for a 32-yard TD run.  Later, Forney found a seem down the middle by way of a 72-yard scoring reception, good for the longest UIndy play from scrimmage this season and longest UIndy reception since September of 2009.

The latter play was one of three receptions of 45 yards or more for Forney, who averaged a gaudy 27 yards per catch for the night.

Sophomore quarterback Chris Mills finished with a career-high 415 yards and two touchdowns on 23 for 36 passing.  He also added his third rushing TD of the year on a one-yard QB sneak in the second quarter.

Senior linebacker Mike Dum had his second straight double-digit tackle performance after compiling a game-high 10 total stops.

Defensive backs Nate Jackson and Jerrett Ban each had an interception on the night.  The Hounds have at least one INT in each of the last four games, including a total of eight in the previous three.

With just three games remaining on the 2011 regular-season slate, the Greyhounds head to Ferris State Saturday, Oct. 29 for a battle of GLIAC North Division contenders.  Kickoff from Top Taggart Field is scheduled for 2 p.m. Eastern.

Notes:  UIndy is 5-0 at home for the first time since 1997…The Greyhounds overcame season highs in both number of penalties (9) and penalty yards (100)…The Hounds garnered over 500 yards of total offense for the second time this season.  Before amassing 509 yards Saturday, they had not reached that plateau twice in the same year since 2003…After committing its first turnover of the season last week, UIndy had zero versus Northern Michigan.  The team is on track to set a new D-II record for fewest turnovers in a season.  The current mark of eight is shared by Lenoir-Rhyne (1994), Winston-Salem (2004) and Abilene Christian (2010).
