Fressle's season-high five goals and Sullivan's career-high matching day lead Skyhawks

MELBOURNE, Fla. (March 9, 2022) – Stonehill College used two key runs in the first quarter and to start the second half to fuel a 22-9 victory over Concordia University (Minn.)-St. Paul in a non-conference women's lacrosse matchup at Palm Bay Magnet High School this afternoon.

How it Happened

  • Concordia started fast, grabbing a two-goal lead after goals from senior Delaney Davidson less than two minutes into the game, and freshman Maddie Westberg with 8:29 to play in the first quarter.
  • Stonehill followed with the next six goals, including a pair from senior Kendall Fressle, over a four-minute span to grab control.
  • After Davidson capped the first quarter scoring with her second goal for CSP with 37-seconds to play, Stonehill scored the first three goals of the second quarter, including Fressle's third to open the frame 82-seconds in. That was the start of a 5-1 Skyhawks run and included a second Fressle goal for her fourth of the game just 21-minutes into the contest.
  • Fressle added her fifth with three minutes to play in the first half, before junior Lydia Rudden capped the second quarter scoring with her second of the half with 32-seconds remaining to send Stonehill into halftime with a 14-6 lead.
  • Stonehill sealed the win by outscoring the Golden Bears 7-1 in the third quarter to open a 21-7 lead. Senior preseason All-American Emma Sullivan scored four of her five goals in the quarter, while Rudden handed out two assists.
  • After scoring the last six goals of the third, Stonehill stretched the run to eight goals as Rudden connected with junior Kayla Conway for her third goal of the afternoon midway through the fourth.

Noteworthy

  • Freshman Sarah Faley started and went the distance in goal for Stonehill, finishing with three saves.
  • Sullivan continues to fill the boxscore for Stonehill, finishing the day with a career-high matching six points and five goals, to go with an assist, with seven draw controls, five ground balls and a career-best five caused turnovers.
  • Sullivan has now totaled 90 points (72 goals, 18 assists) in 34 career games.
  • Five Skyhawks finished with multiple goals on the afternoon, with Fressle joining Sullivan with five goals, Conway totaling four goals and Rudden and sophomore Molly Mae Hughes each finishing with two goals and three assists for five points – with Hughes matching her career-best for assists with her season-high total.
  • Fressle's five goals are a season high.
  • Freshman Mallory Crispens notched her first collegiate point with an assist today.
  • Stonehill has scored 20-plus goals in two of its first three games of the season, with today's 22 goal its highest offensive output since netting 23 in a win over Saint Thomas Aquinas College in Florida on March 9, 2020.
  • Today's game was the first ever encounter between these two programs.
